This detailed relief jug created by Mayer depicts a boy climbing a tree in order to reach a nest with baby birds on one side and on the other, the boy is sitting on a branch holding the nest on his knees. The pitcher has beautifully detailed branches and leaves finished with a branch handle. The English Registry mark dates the jug to 1850 and shows the. Works were exhibited at the British Exhibitions of 1851, 1853 and 1855 whereas a medal was won during the 1851 Exhibition. Pitcher/Jug measures 7 ½ tall and holds 20 oz.
